Dan Mini Students Present School Year Highlights

Principal Yvanna Wheeler shared how Dan Mini Elementary School is aligning its efforts with the VCUSD Portrait of a Graduate. The presentation included student updates, showcasing their progress and achievements this year.

Trustee Gardner Honored at Final Meeting

Trustee Christy Gardner was celebrated for her dedication and contributions during her final meeting with the VCUSD Board of Education. Gardner began her journey as a board member in January 2019 when she was appointed to represent Area 2. She was subsequently elected in 2020 and served two terms. A former private-sector professional with over 16 years of experience, Gardner transitioned to education as a second career, working as a substitute teacher and holding various teaching and administrative roles before retiring from the California Department of Education’s Charter School Division in 2015.

Board Approves First Interim Budget

The board approved the first interim budget report, which was certified as qualified. This designation indicates that the district may need help to meet its financial obligations in the current or subsequent two fiscal years. District leaders cautioned that failing to implement necessary budget cuts could result in state receivership, stripping the district of local governance control.
